21 June 2020

Five new case of COVID-19 were diagnosed between 8pm on 19 June and 8pm on 20 June, bringing the total number of cases in NSW to 3,149.

All new cases are returned travellers in hotel quarantine.

A total of 13,643 tests were carried out, compared with 16,193 tests in the previous 24 hours. More than 725,000 COVID-19 tests have now been carried out in NSW.

NSW Health would like to thank those with symptoms for coming forward, getting tested and ensuring cases in the community are identified as quickly as possible.

Cases Count
Confirmed cases (including interstate residents in NSW health care facilities) 3,149
Deaths (in NSW from confirmed cases) 50
Cases reported recovered 2,771
Total tests carried out 725,817

There are currently 54 COVID-19 cases being treated by NSW Health, none in intensive care. In NSW, 2,771 people are known to have recovered from COVID-19.

Since 29 March 2020, 3,050 symptomatic returned travellers have been tested in hotels, with 103 of those (3 per cent) found positive. Travellers are also screened on day 10 of quarantine. Since this screening began on 15 May 2020, 9,546 returned travellers have been screened on day 10 of quarantine with 40 found positive.

As more restrictions are lifted, it is essential everyone maintains physical distancing of 1.5 metres and regularly washes their hands to minimise the risk of virus transmission. The virus may still be circulating in the community. People can unknowingly pass it to others before they get symptoms.

NSW Health is urging anyone feeling unwell – even with the mildest of symptoms such as a runny nose or scratchy throat – to isolate from others and to seek testing via their GP or by visiting one of the COVID-19 testing clinics. A full list of COVID-19 testing clinics is available at COVID-19 clinics
