The Finley community is being given its first look at the $25 million Finley Health Service redevelopment, with early designs unveiled today for the upgraded health facility.

Minister for Regional Health Ryan Park said the design outlines how the new and refurbished clinical and reception areas will be incorporated into the existing hospital.

“The design will deliver a patient-focused health service, improving healthcare delivery and enhancing the overall patient experience,” Mr Park said.

“The redevelopment will expand and reconfigure the reception area, deliver new inpatient rooms, relocate the medical imaging unit and provide a new ultrasound service, as well as improvements to the Emergency Department.

“To better support the highly valued staff working at the facility, there will also be improvements to staff facilities.

“The services and infrastructure needs identified in the Health Services Plan were considered and prioritised to ensure the redevelopment delivers a contemporary health facility which will meet the needs of patients, carers and staff.

"During the planning process stakeholder consultation is essential to the design of the upgraded health service, with the community invited to attend upcoming information sessions.

“We’re making sure the design meets the needs of clinicians and other staff including nurses and hospital managers, as well as patients and the community.”

The project scope will continue to be confirmed through the planning and design process.

The design will be provided to stakeholders and the community to provide feedback in the coming month. The project team will collate all feedback from staff, stakeholders and the community and this will inform the design process as it continues.

Community feedback will help inform the final design which is expected to be released in early 2024.

Construction of the redevelopment is expected to start in 2024 following planning approval. Work will be carefully staged to ensure clinical services remain operational during construction. Staff and the community will be informed of any planned changes.
