Have your say on the next stage of the Manning Hospital Redevelopment

Stage 2 of the Manning Hospital Redevelopment is taking a key step forward, with the community invited to provide feedback and have their say on the planning application which is now on public exhibition.  

The refurbished Manning Hospital will deliver a modern and contemporary health facility that supports local communities with high-quality health care and forms part of the NSW Government’s $180 million Lower Mid North Coast Health Service Project in Taree and Forster-Tuncurry. 

Manning Hospital’s redevelopment will feature a new clinical services building with inpatient units, a Close Observation Unit to support cardiac patients and a new mortuary, pharmacy and pathology spaces, along with enhanced connections to the existing hospital building.  

The design includes the construction of an additional level to allow for the future expansion of health services and a contemporary and functional façade that reflects the local area and connects with country. 

Landscaping and external patient spaces will also be delivered, aimed at enhancing the health and wellbeing of patients, staff, and visitors. 

The community is invited to attend information sessions to meet the project team, provide feedback and learn more about the redevelopment on:  
  • Tuesday, 3 February 2026, 8.00am to 1.00pm 
  • Manning Hospital Café, 26 York Street, Taree 
  • Thursday, 5 February 2026, 2.00pm to 8.00pm
  • Taree Central Shopping Centre, 60 Manning Street, Taree

Public feedback on the Review of Environmental Factors and technical documents can also be provided online until 11:59pm on Friday, 13 February 2026, and is available to view at Health Infrastructure projects on exhibition​.  

Hansen Yuncken has been appointed as the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) building partner. Under the ECI arrangement, Hansen Yuncken will finalise the redevelopment designs and optimise delivery planning to ensure the project is delivered as efficiently as possible. The next phase of the redevelopment builds on enabling and demolition work completed in 2025.

Construction timeframes will be confirmed following planning approvals. The community will continue to be updated as the project progresses.   

Further work on a proposal for a health service model in the Forster-Tuncurry continues and forms part of the Lower Mid North Coast Health Service Project.
