Artist impressions of the new Bombala Multi-Purpose Service (MPS) expansion have been released, offering the community its first look at the new purpose-built health facility that will enhance aged care accommodation and health services.
The NSW and Australian Governments have jointly committed $40 million to deliver the project, which will provide 20 additional aged care beds to meet the healthcare needs of the region, now and into the future.
The expansion includes construction of a new residential aged care wing, which will increase capacity from 10 to 30 aged care beds, strengthening access and housing residential aged care services under the one roof.
The modern design features an elevated extension that maximises natural light and the area's scenic views and landscapes. Residents and families will also benefit from new outdoor areas, designed to support wellbeing and connection to Country.
Extensive consultation with staff, stakeholders and the community was carried out last year and has informed the latest design. The new aged care spaces provide a welcoming, home‑like environment that supports comfort, safety and dignity for residents.
Valuable feedback received last year has informed design considerations including:
The expansion will also include a linkway to seamlessly connect the new facility to the existing MPS.
Staff accommodation options are also being explored to help attract and retain healthcare professionals in the region.
The community is invited to have their say with the project's planning application now on public exhibition.
Bombala and surrounding communities will have opportunities to learn more and provide feedback at community sessions in April:
Feedback on the Review of Environmental Factors and technical documents can be submitted online until 11:59pm on Friday 8 May via the Health Infrastructure website.

Construction timeframes will be confirmed following planning determination and the appointment of a building contractor, with works expected to start in 2026.
The project team will continue to work closely with Southern NSW Local Health District, staff and local stakeholders as the design is finalised.
