Central Coast communities are being given their first look at the design for the new Key Health Worker Accommodation in Wyong, as part of the Minns Labor Government's $200.1 million program.

The new accommodation, which will help attract and retain more frontline healthcare workers to the region, includes eight single bed and two double bed self-contained units, located on the Wyong Hospital campus.

The designs show each unit with kitchen, living areas and ensuite bathrooms. One of the single bed units is also designed to be fully wheelchair accessible with all functional areas designed to accommodate wheelchair occupants.

Construction is expected to begin in February 2027 following a tender process to award a building contractor to deliver the works.

Wyong is one of more than 20 Key Health Worker Accommodation projects in rural, regional and remote NSW, as part of the Minns Labor Government's $200.1 million program.

The funding includes the building of new accommodation, refurbishment of existing living quarters, and the purchase of suitable properties such as residential units.

This investment builds on the $45.3 million in accommodation for key healthcare workers in the Murrumbidgee, Southern NSW, and Far West Local Health Districts, which is now complete with all new accommodation delivered and fully operational.

The $200.1 million Key Health Worker Accommodation is one of several initiatives the NSW Government is using to strengthen the regional health workforce.

Other initiatives include:

• The NSW Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme, which provides incentives of up to $20,000 for the hardest to fill and critically vacant positions in rural and regional NSW.
• Expanded training pathways, such as the Rural Generalist Single Employer Pathway, which has assisted 74 doctors to train as rural generalists across NSW.
• Investing $83 million to boost maternity care across regional NSW, including funding for an additional 53 full-time equivalent midwives.
• Delivering study subsidies for regional health workers.
• Delivering an extra 500 regional paramedics.
