Nearly $2 million for health facility upgrades in Far West

30 September 2026

Broken Hill and surrounding communities are set to benefit from upgraded health facilities, following nearly $2 million funding boost from the Minns Labor Government to deliver minor capital works projects.

This funding for Far West Local Health District is part of the Minns Government’s $12 million Regional Health Minor Works Program.

Delivered over two years, the program will support essential infrastructure upgrades and enhance health facilities across regional, rural and remote NSW, ensuring they continue to meet the needs of local communities and deliver high-quality care.

This investment will support the delivery of two projects:

  • Broken Hill Health Service upgrades: to expand and upgrade two birthing suites at the hospital to enhance patient experiences and support the continuity of maternity services. Works will include suite extensions, modern clinical fit out and holistic, home like design.
  • Expansion of the Broken Hill Community Health Centre: to deliver additional clinical offices, therapeutic group rooms and a dedicated Mum and Bub space.

This funding builds on the Minns Labor Government’s $11.9 billion investment to deliver 32 new or upgraded hospitals as part of the 2026-27 Budget. This includes nearly $3 billion over four years for hospitals across regional NSW.
