NSW Health is advising of a new public health alert for Sydney Market Flemington.

A case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in a person who worked at the market while infectious on Sunday, 9 August. This person is in isolation.

Close contacts have been identified and advised to isolate for 14 days, to get tested for COVID-19 and monitor their health.

People who were at Sydney Market on Sunday, 9 August from 8am to 4pm are considered casual contacts and advised to monitor for symptoms including runny nose, sore throat, fever, cough, loss of taste or smell, and get tested should even the mildest symptoms develop.

The case who was reported positive on Sunday, 16 August and the source of their infection is under investigation.

The areas of the market where the case worked have been thoroughly cleaned.

There is no ongoing risk to the public.

NSW Health has also directed that people who attended the following locations should watch for symptoms and get tested if they appear:

  • Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday, 11 August and Wednesday, 12 August between 8.30am and 12.30pm
  • Woolworths Metro North Strathfield on Saturday, 8 August between 12.50pm and 1.15pm
  • DFO Homebush on Saturday 8 August between 10:45am and 12pm
