NSW Health Multi Purpose Services (MPS) Strategy 2026–2028

Summary

The NSW Health Multi Purpose Services (MPS) Strategy 2026–2028 sets the direction for delivering integrated health and aged care in, rural and remote communities. It provides a framework for planning and service delivery to ensure MPS continue to offer safe, high quality, and locally responsive care.

MPS bring together health and residential aged care services in one location, helping communities access essential care close to home while supporting older people to remain connected to family and community.

The MPS Strategy focuses on three core areas:

  • Planning for the future: Making informed decisions about services, facilities and infrastructure so care matches what communities need now and into the future.
  • Delivering best practice care: Creating homelike environments, strengthening partnerships, ensuring culturally responsive services, and enhancing safety and quality across all MPS sites.
  • Supporting the workforce, digital infrastructure and sustainability: Ensuring MPS have skilled staff, strong digital systems and sustainable funding so care remains accessible and high quality.

The MPS Strategy aligns with the NSW Regional Health Strategic Plan 2022-2032 and Future Health, ensuring that people living in rural and remote communities continue to receive the care they need through integrated services, sustainable workforce and strong local partnerships.
