People living in the Local Government Areas (LGA) of The Hills and Penrith are urged to come forward for COVID-19 testing, if they show any symptoms.
 
One new case has been confirmed in NSW in the last 24-hours, from 5964 tests. There was one new death bringing the state’s total to 48.
 
Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant said it’s important people in the listed areas present for testing.
 
“Whilst we are urging everyone in the community to come forward for a test, should they develop symptoms… We are also wanting in particular two areas, The Hills and Penrith LGA,” she said.
 
The state’s daily target for testing is 8000.
 
NSW Health is currently treating 100 people for COVID-19, with three quarters in out of hospital care.
 
Six people remain in ICU, with two on ventilators.
