Population health surveys provide ongoing information on health behaviours, health status and other factors that influence the health of the people of NSW.

The NSW School Students Health Behaviours Survey is conducted in NSW schools every 3 years to provide information about the health behaviours and attitudes of secondary school students.

Child Population Health Survey

The NSW Child Health Survey is collected through a telephone survey of about 13,000 people from all over NSW. This survey is conducted between February and December each year.

Other surveys and studies using survey data

In addition to the population health surveys above other surveys and studies are conducted as required.

The Ministry encourages people who are contacted to participate in the surveys. Before analysis and reporting, all data are de-identified. No information is published or released in a form that could identify an individual. The results are of great value to the community in planning how to improve the health of people in NSW and local health services.
