ARF notifications by age group and sex, NSW, 2020-2024

ARF is most commonly diagnosed in people between the ages of 5-14 years. 

RHD notifications by age group and sex, NSW, 2020-2024

RHD is most commonly diagnosed in females​ between the ages of 25-34 years. RHD is not currently notifiable in people aged 35 year and older in NSW.

The majority of people diagnosed with​ ARF (75%) and RHD (60%) were born in Australia.

ARF and RHD notification rate by LHD of residence, NSW, 2020-2024​

​A notification rate is a way of measuring how often a health condition is reported in a population group over time.​ ​​The highest notification rate for ARF (1.23 per 100,000 people) was in people living in Northern NSW Local Health District (LHD). The highest notification rate for RHD in people less than ​35 years was also in Northern NSW LHD (0.89​ per 100,000 people).
