This alert relates to Medsound Diagnostic Imaging, Suite 15, 14 Edgeworth David Avenue, Hornsby.
The Health Care Complaints Commission and NSW Health investigated this practice following a complaint. The investigation found that equipment was not being cleaned properly between patients, and that the owner was performing tests and writing reports when not qualified to do so.
No instances of patient infection arising from procedures performed at Medsound Hornsby have been identified, and the risk is considered to be low. However, as a precaution NSW Health is writing to all patients of Medsound Hornsby advising that if they have had certain procedures (see Frequently Asked Questions - Who is at risk?), they should see their doctor and get tested for blood borne virus infections (hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV). This advice affects patients who have attended the practice at Suite 15, 14 Edgeworth David Avenue, Hornsby since January 2017.
