Public warning statement - Section 12A of the Public Health Act

I Dr Kerry Chant, Chief Health Officer, being of the view that there is a risk to the health or safety of the public or a sector of the public, make the following public statement identifying and giving warnings or information about the risk:

A recent inspection of Raymond’s Pharmacy at 24 Smith Street, Kempsey NSW 2440, has identified vaccines and refrigerated medicines were not stored at the required temperature range to maintain cold chain requirements.

Cold chain breaches may impact the effectiveness of vaccines and refrigerated medicines.

As of 13 October 2026, appropriate cold chain practices have been restored by the pharmacy. Thus, vaccines and refrigerated medicines supplied or administered by Raymond's Pharmacy from 13 October 2026 onwards are considered effective for use.

However, it is not known when the cold chain breach first occurred, nor which specific vaccines and medicines refrigerated by Raymond’s Pharmacy may have been affected. As such, patients should be aware that the effectiveness of any vaccines and refrigerated medicines administered or supplied by Raymond’s Pharmacy prior to 13 October 2026 may be impacted.

Patients who have received vaccines or refrigerated medicines from Raymond’s Pharmacy at 24 Smith Street, Kempsey NSW 2440 prior to 13 October 2026, are recommended to see their general practitioner to determine whether they require re-vaccination or a new supply of medicines.
