Outcomes for both multidrug-resistant (MDR) and non-MDR tuberculosis cases in ​​​NSW, 2023

The majority of TB cases successfully completed TB treatment in 2023 (90%). The treatment outcome is unable to be assessed when people transfer overseas (4% of cases), and a small number of cases die from causes not related to TB while on treatment (3% of cases).

Cont​​act investigation outcomes from TB pulmonary smear positive cases diagnosed in NSW, 2024​​​​1

There were 874 contacts identified in NSW in 2024 from TB pulmonary smear positive cases, 61% of those completed contact screening for TB.

Notes

  1. This reports on contacts tracing on the most infectious cases. More contact tracing was done but it is not reported here​​.​​
