Finance Strategy

​​The Finance Strategy team provides strategic and financial advice, analysis, and insights to support effective financial management across the Ministry of Health.

What we do​

• Business partnering: Build trusted, collaborative relationships with Ministry stakeholders to provide financial insights that support strategic priorities and health system outcomes.
• Budget planning and management: Lead the preparation, review and monitoring of budgets across Ministry branches, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and Government priorities.
• Financial advice and analysis: Deliver expert advice on financial performance, budget management, compliance, and forecasting and reporting requirements, enabling robust decision-making.
• Policy and funding evaluation: Support the financial assessment of new policy initiatives, business cases, cabinet submissions, and complex costings to ensure proposals align with government priorities and are financially sustainable.
• Collaboration and capability building: Provide education and support to strengthen financial and system capability across the Ministry.
• Governance and compliance: Monitor and advise on compliance with Ministry policies, accounting standards and Government requirements to ensure transparency, accountability and financial integrity.​
