The Australian blood sector is funded by the Commonwealth, state and territory governments.

The National Blood Authority manages and coordinates arrangements for the supply of blood and blood products and services on behalf of the Australian Government and state and territory governments.

Information on the appropriate use of blood and blood products is available from the Clinical Excellence Commission's Blood Watch program.
