NSW Health works with partner agencies to prepare, prevent, respond to and recover from emergencies and major incidents. Effective planning and preparation can reduce the impact on people’s health from many types of emergencies.

There are many things that we can do to help prepare ourselves and our families, friends and neighbours for emergencies. The better prepared we are, the more able we are to manage the personal aspects of a disaster and the faster we will be able to recover.

Everyone is encouraged to discuss emergency preparation with family members, neighbours and friends who may be less independent and need more support.

Find simple and practical advice on how to prepare on a personal level for an emergency, such as natural disaster or a situation where you are asked to stay at home for a prolonged period.
