Being up to date with vaccinations is important

Staying up to date with your vaccinations is one of the best ways to protect your health and the health of those around you.

It can:

  • prevent harmful infectious diseases
  • reduce your risk of hospitalisation or time off work
  • lower the chance of spreading infections to loved ones.

Adults are recommended to have several vaccines. Some are needed every year, while others are given once or twice in a lifetime.

Eligibility for free vaccines depends on your age, underlying health conditions, and some vaccines are free for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people at a younger age.
