Instructions to update existing Vaccination Tracker spreadsheet with new pneumococcal vaccine (Capvaxive®) requirements

​Background

From 1 July 2026, the pneumococcal vaccine recommendations will change for older adults:

Before 1 July 2026

Prevenar 13 for all older adults:

  • Aboriginal adults: From 50 years old
  • Non-Aboriginal adults: From 70 years old

Aboriginal adults needed prevenar 13 and 2 doses of Pneumovax 23.

From 1 July 2026

Capvaxive (1 dose) for all older adults:

  • Aboriginal adults: From 25 years old
  • Non-Aboriginal adults: From 65 years old

Aboriginal adults only need 1 dose of Capvaxive.

What residential aged care homes (RACHs) need to do

  1. Arrange for all your age-eligible residents to get Capvaxive from 1/7/26 (even if your resident has previously received Prevenar 13 and/or Pneumovax 23)
  2. Update your vaccination tracker spreadsheet
  3. You can either use the new spreadsheet orupdate your existing spreadsheet.

Instructions for updating your vaccination tracker spreadsheet

  1. Open your existing spreadsheet.
  2. Open the new spreadsheet titled “Vaccination tracker with Capvaxive_use from 1 July 2026”.
  3. On your existing spreadsheet, click on cell B2 (in the First Name column) and drag your mouse to the last entry in column J (in the Due for Influenza column):
  4. Press Ctrl C.

  5. On the new spreadsheet, click on cell B2 (in the First name column) and press Ctrl V.
  6. Return to your existing spreadsheet, click on cell Q2 (in the Shingrix dose 1 column) and drag your mouse to the last entry in column X (in the Refusal Comments column).
  7. Press Ctrl C.
  8. On the new spreadsheet, click on cell M2 (in the Shingrix Dose 1 column) and press Ctrl V.
