MidStart recruitment outcomes

Selection of applicants is based on merit following a competitive process.

Applicants will be advised of their recruitment outcome by email on Monday 17 August 2026.

You will be advised of one of the following outcomes:

  1. You are successful and have been offered a position at a particular hospital.
  2. You have been placed on the Eligible Applicants’ Bank for allocation if positions become available.
  3. You are not successful in this recruitment process. You are welcome to apply to future recruitment opportunities.

Successful applicants

On Tuesday 18 August 2026 successful applicants will receive an email containing a link to accept or decline their Confirmation of Position.

You must accept the Confirmation of Position online by Monday 24 August 2026 or the Confirmation of Position will be withdrawn.

You can also accept or decline the Confirmation of Position via the recruitment system for NSW Health employees or Candidates external to NSW Health. Go to My Applications, enter your username and password to access your job profile. Click on the job title to open up tasks for this job and to access the offer.

Employment contracts (letter of offer) will be forwarded to you via an online link by 25 September 2026.

For instructions on how to accept and print your letter of offer, please refer to Recruitment and Onboarding - Accepting and printing your Letter of Offer.

You must accept the offer by the due date

Acceptance of offer, verbal or written, to the employer will not be accepted.

You cannot commence employment as a postgraduate midwifery student if you are not enrolled in an approved university program. To enrol at university, you will be asked to provide a copy of your employment contract.

Seeking feedback

All applicants are encouraged to seek feedback.

If you are placed on the Eligible Applicants’ Bank or unsuccessful you are encouraged to seek feedback from the person in your interview outcome letter.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn about your areas for future development and increase your potential if you wish to apply to MidStart in the future.

Eligible Applicants’ Bank

If you have been placed on the Eligible Applicants’ Bank, you are eligible for employment but have not been allocated a position during first round selections. Employers use the Eligible Applicants’ Bank to fill vacant positions.

Managers are invited to fill vacancies drawing from the Eligible Applicants’ Bank from Monday 31 August 2026. The Eligible Applicants’ Bank remains open until the end of May 2027 or until all positions are filled; whichever occurs first.
