IMG Clinical Readiness Program (ICRP)

The ICRP is a program that is implimented across NSW Health rural, regional and metropolitan locations.     

The 12-week voluntary program provides International Medical Graduates an opportunity to participate as a Medical Support Officer working under medical supervision in a multidisciplinary team in a NSW public hospital.

NSW Rural Generalist Training

Recruiting and retaining general practitioners (GPs) in rural and regional communities remains a national challenge. NSW Health is working closely with the Australian Government to strengthen coordination and build a stable, sustainable rural medical workforce. Through a range of targeted initiatives, NSW Health is increasing opportunities for junior doctors to train as GPs and Rural Generalists.

Assistant in Medicine

The Assistant in Medicine role was established in 2020 and developed as part of the COVID-19 medical workforce response. The position was designed to support the medical workforce by providing care and support across a range of clinical areas. Assistants in Medicine were 2020 final year medical students employed in NSW Health.

Guidance for Final Stage Medical Student placements

NSW Health’s Guidance Document for Final-Stage Medical Students on placement sets expectations for key learning activity during clinical placements. It includes a recommended scope of practice to meet AMC graduate outcomes. It also provides a framework to help ensure students are better prepared for internship.
