NSW Volunteers' Appreciation Day

The NSW Health Volunteers' Appreciation Day has been celebrated annually by our health services since the United Nations Assembly established the International Year of Volunteers in 2001.

In celebration of the NSW Health Volunteers Appreciation Day, NSW Health services will hold events to recognise volunteers who generously give their time to support patients, their families and staff.

Volunteer of the Year Award

The NSW Health Volunteer of the Year Award is awarded annually at the NSW Health Awards which showcase the excellent work throughout the NSW health system.

The NSW Health Volunteer of the Year Award recognises the significant contribution of an individual to volunteering within NSW Health. This award aims to acknowledge an individual who:

provides excellent support for patients, carers and families
acts as a role model for volunteering in NSW Health helping to promote volunteer services and inspire other volunteers
has used their voice and valued experience as a consumer to contribute towards health system change
uses new and innovative ways to engage patients, carers and families.
