Co-occurring mental health conditions in AOD treatment settings

NSW Health has partnered with the University of Sydney, Matilda Centre for Research in Mental Health and Substance Use to deliver a series of comprehensive skills-based training workshops designed to build knowledge, confidence and skills in responding effectively to people with co-occurring mental health conditions in alcohol and other drug (AOD) treatment settings.

This training will cover a range of co-occurring mental health conditions, screening, assessment, motivational enhancement, cognitive and behavioural approaches. This skills-based course will be held over three and a half days.

This training program was developed to align with the Australian Guidelines on managing co-occurring alcohol and other drug and mental health conditions in alcohol and other drug treatment settings.

Eligibility

This training is fully funded by NSW Health for the alcohol and other drugs workforce in NSW and includes people working in non-government services, NSW Health and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations. This opportunity is also available for those working in related sectors, for example, mental health, violence, abuse and neglect, homelessness services, child and family health, and maternity.
