Alcohol and other drugs skillset

​​​Gain foundational knowledge of working in the alcohol and other drugs (AOD) sector, to support you as you begin/enhance your career.

Students will obtain four units of competency that can be used as credit towards CHC43215 Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs.

This course is targeted to workers who are new to working in the AOD sector in direct client facing roles and would benefit from specific training on skills for assessment, intervention and review. Learners will benefit from having digital literacy skills and be familiar with MS Teams.

Dates and locations

  • Session 1:
    Full delivery: 19 August 2025, Tuesday 9:30am-1:30pm (10 weeks virtual learning, 2 week break)
  • Session 2:
    Self-paced: 19 August 2025, Tuesday 2-4pm (12 weeks self-paced delivery with fortnightly workshops)

Classes are delivered on a virtual learning platform, Microsoft Teams (Session 1) or as a self-paced option with fortnightly workshops (Session 2).

Eligibility

Course is available to all candidates from Local Health Districts or Special Health Networks interested in alcohol and other drugs. Priority may be given to those working with priority population groups.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates are encouraged to apply to this AOD skillset training. There is also funded AOD skillset training specifically for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders that is advertised on AH&MRC website.
