Alcohol and other drugs skillset

Gain foundational knowledge of working in the alcohol and other drugs (AOD) sector, to support you as you begin/enhance your career.

Students will obtain four units of competency that can be used as credit towards CHC43215 Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs.

This course is targeted to workers who are new to working in the AOD sector in direct client facing roles and would benefit from specific training on skills for assessment, intervention and review. Learners will benefit from having digital literacy skills and be familiar with MS Teams as the course will be delivered virtually.

Dates and locations

Both cohorts will commence from the week starting  24th August 2026 - concluding the  9th November 2026. There will be a two-week break.

  • Session 1: Full delivery with classes weekly, Wednesday 12:30-4:30pm
  • Session 2: Self-paced with workshops every fortnight, Thursday 2:00pm - 4:00pm

Eligibility

Course is available to all candidates from Local Health Districts or Special Health Networks interested in alcohol and other drugs. Priority may be given to those working with priority population groups.
