Emergency department data

​​​NSW Health collects data relating to visits to public emergency departments. This data can be used to report on activity, such as:

• patient waiting times
• urgency of care and complexity of presentations
• patients who go on to be admitted to hospital or who are discharged
• changes in patterns of demand for emergency department services.

The data can be transformed for a variety of uses, including health service planning and population health research.
