​Aboriginal Environmental Health Officer Training Program is centred around Trainees and Supervisors with cultural respect embedded in all areas.

A Training Program Advisory Committee provides over-arching governance.

The training program includes the following components of governance:

  • Interested employer information meetings and an application process to apply for funding.
  • NSW Health and employer Funding Agreement
  • Recruitment Pack with templates for the employer to help with recruitment and advertising.
  • Employer interview panel includes representatives from University and NSW Health

The Trainee and Supervisor are supported with a:

  • Family information session to help family understand the traineeship.
  • Work team information session to help all team members understand the traineeship and their involvement.
  • NSW Health Project Officer point of contact
  • Steering Group meeting, held twice yearly to keep the traineeship on track.

The traineeship is supported with:

  • MS Teams Channels for communication
  • Supervisor forums, workshops, conferences and webinars
  • Workplan templates, guidance for supervisors, guidance for trainees, guidance for work experiences.
  • NSW Health, Environmental Health Officer Workplace Training Kit and assessment.
  • NSW Health and University meetings.

At the completion of the traineeship, there is a review and closure process with the workplace and trainee.

The trainee is issued a Training Program certificate and awarded a Bachelor of Science (Environmental Health).
