Transcript of Faster Cheaper Safer: Use of ECG for Central Line Placement - South Western Sydney LHD

Nicholas Miffin: We are filming here today on the land of the Cabrogal people of the Dharug nation.

I’d like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land and pay my respects to their elders past and present.

The driving force behind the implementation of intracavitary ECG was to apply the fastest, safer, cheaper method of tip confirmation in central venous access.

Intracavitary ECG provides greater than 99 per cent accuracy when compared to traditional techniques, which demonstrated an 80 per cent success rate.

We’re seeing a greater reduced time to treatment for patients and greater service throughout, equating in approximately one additional day of productivity.
