Transcript of Keeping Them Safe: A Rapid Response for Vulnerable People During COVID-19 - Sydney LHD

Dr Pam Garrett: I’d like to begin today by acknowledging the traditional owners of the land that we’re meeting on, the Gadigal people of the great Eora nation and pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging.

We realised that homeless people were particularly vulnerable to contracting COVID, and were less likely to be able to self-isolate.

The solution was wellbeing clinics, screening and testing, and providing emergency meals.

Paul Clenaghan: We’re very proud of our key achievements for this program. We saw 1200 people and we tested over 200 people for COVID.

In that group, we identified that there were zero hidden COVID cases.
