NSW Health convened an Expert Review Panel to review the current governance of the network. The panel was asked to report its observations and recommendations to the Secretary of Health.
The Expert Review Panel included three members, Dr Kathy Alexander (Chair), Dr Peter Steer and Ms Sue Peter.
Close to 500 people participated in individual or group meetings. In addition, a total of 84 written submissions were received.
The review outlines 16 recommendations.
Health Minister Brad Hazzard has directed the Ministry of Health not to make
any final decisions on the Network’s future structure until there has been
further opportunity for key stakeholders and a range of other interested
parties to be heard. A roundtable has been convened for 27 July 2019.
The purpose of the roundtable is to openly explore the views held
by all parties in relation to governance and networking of clinical services,
including cardiac procedures.
