For children and young people

Transcript of New Street Services: for children and young people.

You can get help for problematic and harmful sexual behavior. And yes, talking about it can be hard.

Am I a bad person? Are they ever going to forgive me? What's going to happen to me now? Where can I get help?

But not talking about it can leave you worried, confused and ashamed. You can feel alone, but other young people have been here and found help.

If you're 10 to 17 years old, New Street Services across New South Wales can help. They see young people and their families at the service sites, but also do outreach to other locations in the district.

At New Street, they listened to me. They helped me find ways to stop my behavior.

Me too.The people here are really nice. They don't judge me. They also talk to my school about the help I need.

New Street has been my safe place. It's where I can express my feelings freely. I feel like I can just be myself.

When I first came here I had this sense of safety, because I knew nothing bad would happen.

They can also help your family, no matter what type of family you have.

My brother was allowed to sit with me when I saw a counsellor.

My carer came with me.

My nan got to talk to someone as well.

You don't have to go through this hard time alone. If you want more information about New Street, please go to this link. If you're younger than 10, there's Safewayz. They can help you and your family get the right help.

For parents and carers

Transcript of New Street Services: for parents and carers.

You can get help if your child has problematic and harmful sexual behaviour. And yeah, talking about it can be hard.

Is it my fault? What will people think of our family? Is my child going to be alright? Where can we get help? How can we work this out?

You're not alone. Other families have been in our situation and they've found help.

If your child is 10 to 17 years old, New Street Services across New South Wales can help. They see families at the service sites, but also do outreach to other locations in the district.

When you come to New Street you can expect to have someone to talk to on your own, to be listened to without judgment, to be involved in deciding how you and your child are helped, to have your privacy respected, and it's free.

New Street really cares about us, we're not just another family, they take an interest in our story and they even helped us with the school.

It doesn't matter what race, religion or sex you are. It's a safe place. Not only for the kids but for us, the grandparents, as well.

They made me realise my kid wasn't a bad kid, he just made a bad decision.

After all, what your child has done or what's happened to them doesn't define who they are or who you are. If you want more information about New Street, please go to this link. If your child is under 10 years old Safewayz can help you find the right service for both you and them.
