National model of consent for clinical genomic testing

The National Model of Consent for Clinical Genomic Testing has been developed by NSW Ministry of Health on behalf of the Australian Health Minister’s Advisory Council (AHMAC) Project Reference Group on Health Genomics.

This program of work was delivered in accordance to Action 4A of the Implementation Plan – National Health Genomics Policy Framework. To build on existing work to develop and promote nationally consistent templates and guidance for consent.

The paper Paediatric genomic testing: Navigating medicare rebatable genomic testing represents the collaborative efforts of NSW Health and national subject matter experts to guide paediatricians through the process of genomic testing, including choosing the right test, consent, and understanding outcomes of testing.
