Strategic priority areas for NSW Health to support the growth and development of Aboriginal workforce which have potential to change throughout the current policy timeline are:

  • Aboriginal Employment Coordinators (aka Managers of Aboriginal Workforce Development or similar)
  • Aboriginal Health Practitioners

KPI # 8 Aboriginal employment coordinators

Targets for Aboriginal Employment Coordinators were historically established as a minimum of one per NSW Health agency since PD2005_120 and this target was reinforced with each previous iteration of the Good Health - Great Jobs policy at PD2011_048 and PD2016_053.

NSW Health's commitment to delivering a strong, qualified, competent and capable Aboriginal workforce requires commitment to resources which support and enable the programs, processes and successes within and across the NSW Health agencies.

Moving forward the stretch goals for the organisation will move from the minimum of one (1) Aboriginal Employment Coordinator per agency to a team of positions. These positions support a variety of objectives within the People & Culture portfolios to promote the Human Resources strategic and operational functions and enable the delivery of relevant programs and projects.

The objectives of the Aboriginal Employment Coordinator roles will progressively align to new Position Descriptions with support from Workforce Planning and Talent Development as an outcome of the People and Culture Future Health project and specific objectives identified by the Aboriginal Workforce Unit.
