Dr Shopna Bag is the director of Western Sydney Local Health District’s (WSLHD) Public Health Unit and together with her team, she has led the contact tracing efforts at the district.

Interviewing every single one of the 500+ COVID-19 patients, the team’s goal was to find out how each person caught the disease and who they might have passed it onto.

In this Western Sydney Health Check podcast she delivers expert insight into how NSW Health managed to cope better with the ‘second wave’ of infections in July, compared to the first spike in March, assisted by the precautions put in place.

Dr Bag also speaks personally about the highs and lows of working with patients during this challenging time, what she’s learnt about herself this year, and why she loves working in public health.
