​​​Having access to clear and trustworthy health information helps Aboriginal people and communities make informed choices about their health. When health information is easy to understand and culturally appropriate, it supports better decision-making and encourages the use of services that keep people and communities healthy.

Here you will find a variety of NSW Health resources made for Aboriginal people, along with links to other trusted health organisations:

  • Aboriginal communities and smoking
    Quitline offers a dedicated service to Aboriginal people with Aboriginal counsellors available. It is a free, confidential and individually tailored service to assist you in the process of quitting smoking. Counsellors will provide you with tips on how to quit smoking and help you make a plan.
  • ACI | Aboriginal Health and Wellbeing Network
    Agency for Clinical Innovation (ACI) works to improve the experience and delivery of healthcare for Aboriginal people with chronic conditions in NSW.
  • ACON | LGBTQ+ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander programs
    ACON provide culturally sensitive HIV and sexual health education to help improve the health of LGBTQ+ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, including Sistergirls, Brotherboys, trans mob and people living with HIV.

    A comprehensive, searchable database of health promotion and health practice resources about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.
  • Deadly Choices
    Australia’s leading Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander preventative health program. It aims to educate and empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to take control of their health by making healthy choices for themselves and their families.
  • Healthy Eating Active Living | For Aboriginal People
    Eating healthy, fresh food and being active is key to living a longer, healthier life. By taking small steps to improve your eating and activity habits, you can reduce your risk of chronic disease and stay healthier for longer.
  • Hepatitis NSW​ | Yarnin' About Hep B and Yarnin' About Hep C
    Pocket-sized resources for Aboriginal people, developed with the input of the Aboriginal Health & Medical Research Council (AHMRC) and community feedback. The booklets provide accessible information, focusing on testing and treatment and uses plain-English language with images to support the text.
  • Kidney Health Australia | First Nations Australians resources library
    A dedicated collection of resources to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples affected by kidney disease. First Nations Australians face significantly higher rates of kidney disease and kidney failure compared to non-Indigenous Australians.
