Phase 1 - Role induction

  • Day 1: Induction schedule - 'Meet and Greet', set up, logistics and welcome pack.
  • Days 1-15: Attend meetings-review resources and meet key contacts.
  • Days 1-15: Your 'M' buddy-support person who can support on the job training or provide guidance.
  • Weeks 1-4: Internet / intranet access. Complete mandatory training on My Health Learning.
  • Week 4: Sign off all employee induction checklists.

Phase 2 - Ministry induction

  • Weeks 1-12: Enrol in the NSW Ministry of Health Orientation Workshop via My Health Learning.
  • Weeks 1-12: Attend the NSW Ministry of Health Orientation Workshop (half day).
  • Weeks 1-12: Read Secretary messages, Ministry Matters and relevant resources and attend relevant staff meetings.
  • Weeks 1-13: Identify key capability development requirements to inform the capability development plan.
  • Week 12: Complete all required training and consider potential capability development needs.

Phase 3 - Performance development

  • Weeks 3-4: Performance Agreement and agreed Development Plan - Manager and employee discuss initial priorities and KPIs. Include any capability development needed in the plan with clear action and timeframes.
  • Weeks 10-12: Performance Review Part 1 (at 3 months - Manager and employee discuss performance progress to date.
  • 5-6 months: Performance Review Part 2 (finalised at 6 months) - This discussion informs whether the employee has satisfactorily completed their probation period.
  • 6 months onwards: Annual Performance Development - Manager and employee write a new Performance Agreement and Development Plan and set an appointment for the Performance Review in 12 months time.
