Arriving at the Ministry of Health

When you arrive at our office, please register at reception. The staff at reception will contact your manager to let them know you have arrived.

Typical first day activities

Your manager may have already contacted you about the activities they have planned for day one. If not, a typical schedule for most new starters is to:

  • meet with your manager and / or your M-buddy (generally a team member who can guide you on the local processes)
  • meet your team members and other key contacts within your branch
  • take a tour of the building facilities (e.g. toilets, kitchen area, meeting rooms, Parent room and First Aid room) and be advised of building evacuation procedures in the case of an emergency
  • receive your building access card and made aware of security procedures and building access times
  • check that you can log in to your computer, access email, relevant databases, intranets and the NSW health website
  • get to know where supplies, stationery, photocopier, printer, scanner and fax are located.
