The NSW Health Gender Equality Action Plan 2025-2028 aims to ensure people of all genders have equal access, treatment and opportunities in the health system. Inequality based on gender or sex can have a significant impact on our workforce and the people we care for. Our Action Plan identifies priorities and actions for NSW Health to progress towards gender equality in healthcare.

The Action Plan is for everyone: women, men, non-binary people and other gender diverse people because gender inequality affects people of all genders. We recognise there are disparities between people of different genders and acknowledge these disproportionately affect women, transgender people and gender diverse people.

The plan focuses on making changes at the system level and explores how gender interacts with other characteristics such as Aboriginality, disability, cultural and linguistic diversity and sex.

This Action Plan supports the delivery of Future Health. It complements and builds on existing plans that address our workforce and the health needs of specific population groups. Examples include the NSW Women’s Health Framework 2019NSW Men’s Health Framework 2018NSW LGBTIQ+ Health Strategy 2022-2027, and
NSW Health Strategy for Preventing and Responding to Domestic and Family Violence 2021-2026.
