Network and college recruitment

NSW Health, as the employer, makes the final decisions on the recruitment and selection of doctors into roles within the NSW public hospital system, working with networks and medical colleges for JMO roles.

Network Recruitment

Many specialties use training networks to organise structured rotations across different hospitals. These networks help junior doctors meet the requirements of accredited training programs, provide more stable employment across rotations, and support the distribution of doctors across metropolitan, regional, and rural areas.

Each network usually advertises its roles through a single job advertisement in the recruitment system.

Medical speciality colleges

For some specialties, the college is responsible for the initial screening, selection and allocation of trainees. Following the allocation process, NSW Health completes the onboarding process and conducts the appropriate pre-employment checks.

Candidates interested in joining a specialty training program should contact the relevant medical specialty college regarding their training program requirements.

Please refer to the websites of the specific colleges for more information about applying as a trainee.
