The Aboriginal artwork featured across the NSW Health Primary School Mobile Dental Program was created by Aboriginal artist Leona McGrath.

Leona McGrath

Leona is a proud Aboriginal woman, mother, grandmother, an artist and a midwife. Leona grew up in Sydney in the suburbs of Redfern and Waterloo but is originally from Queensland from the Woopaburra People of great Keppal Island (her grandmother’s people) and the Kuku Yalanji People of Far North Queensland.

Leona was commissioned by NSW Health to develop a visual story to engage and educate primary school students on oral health.

Hear Leona talk about the artwork and watch how this was brought to life on the first of the fully equipped NSW Health Primary School Mobile Dental Program vans.
