Together in Action: Listening, Learning, Transforming, 4 - 10 May 2026

This May, NSW Health celebrates Human Experience Week, an opportunity to recognise accomplishments, re-energise efforts, and honour those shaping patient and staff experiences, Human experience is everyone's responsibility. Experience is created in everyday moments across the system.

NSW Health is committed to delivering kind and compassionate care that is personalised, culturally safe, and focused on what matters most to patients, their families and carers. This commitment is outlined in NSW Health's ​​​​Future Health: Guiding the next decade of healthcare in NSW 2022 - 2032and Elevating the Human Experience - Our Guide to Action, launched in Patient Experience Week 2021.

In 2026, we focus on Together in Action: Listening, Learning, Transforming. This reflects our shared commitment to hear what matters, learn from each other, and act to improve patient and staff experiences.

​Monday 4 May, 12:30 - 2:00pm - Opening of Human Experience Week (virtual)

​Join the NSW Ministry of Health and Agency for Clinical Innovation to launch the Strengthening​ and Streamlining Feedback Program, a key priority in Future Health to transform how we receive, understand, and respond to feedback across NSW Health. The session will also showcase how Patient Reported Outcome Measur​es (PROMs) are strengthening personalised care, informing service improvements and shaping strategic decision-making across NSW Health.​

Tuesday 5 May, 12:30 - 1:30pm - Caring Together, Welcoming visitors (in person)

Join the NSW Ministry of Health and Sydney Local Health District to launch the new NSW Health Visitation Policy -Caring Together - Welcoming Visitors. ​This policy highlights how important it is for people to stay connected with those who matter to them.

​​Wednesday 6 May, 10:30 - 11:30am - Making health information clear and inclusive for all (virtual)
Join us for a practical session on making health information easier to understand for everyone. We will share the basics of accessible communication and how small changes can make a big difference to the experience of patients, carers, and communities. You will learn to recognise communication barriers, understand diverse communication support needs, and consider how intersectionality shapes the way people access and use information.
Guided by this year's theme, we will take you through a simple Listen - Learn - Transform ​approach and connect you with the tools and resources to make your communications more accessible. The session also includes an introduction to the Statewide Health Literacy Hub and its current and future projects.​
