DASAS is a free 24/7 telephone advisory service that assists all health professionals with the clinical diagnosis and management of patients who use alcohol and other drugs. 

All calls to the DASAS are initially answered by experienced clinical nurse consultants. Calls that require specialist medical advice are referred to addiction medicine specialists working in NSW.

The addiction medicine specialists aim to respond to requests within one hour or as soon as possible if the matter is urgent. 

DASAS can provide you with specialist advice and guidance on:

  • ​​man​​aging intoxication and withdrawal from a range of substances
  • treatment options available, including types of medication
  • treating patients with alcohol use disorder
  • what AOD conditions can or cannot be safely and effectively managed in a community or general practice setting.​

You’re encouraged to call DASAS even if you’re not sure the line is right for you as your enquiry will still be directed to the right place.

Please note that this service is for health professionals only. Patients seeking information should be directed to the Alcohol and Drug Information Service (ADIS), a free 24/7 confidential telephone service staffed by professional counsellors. The ADIS phone number is 1800 250 015.
