In this short video, we'll take you through the key things you need to know when applying for a Junior Medical Officer (JMO) role at New South Wales Health. We'll cover: searching for jobs in the JMO Campaign Career Portal, logging in and applying for a role, and where to find additional support resources.

Before you start your application, it's important that you have the campaign advertising dates, your AHPRA details and an up-to-date resume. For current New South Wales Health employees you'll also need your employee number and password and up-to-date details in Employee Self Service. Ensure you enter complete, accurate and up-to-date information in your application. This will ensure your application progresses without delay.

Before you apply, check the advertising dates for the JMO campaign. Early and main round advertising dates are listed on the New South Wales Health website. Dates will be different for each campaign year, position and specialty. Second round positions can be advertised at any time during the second round timeframe. Keep checking the Career Portal for second round advertised positions.

On the Career Portal, you'll see all JMO roles currently advertised. If you work for New South Wales Health login using your Stafflink ID and password before commencing your search. This speeds up your application process as some information will pre-populate. You can search for jobs using Keywords and/or Locations. To narrow the search for specific specialties, click Search jobs. In the Category field type in the specialty. And then, click Add. Advertisements with a Location of Statewide or a Health Agency of Medical Officers have roles based at various New South Wales Health locations. So you may wish to include these parameters in your search. To find out more about a role click on the role title. Review the job advertisement and Position Description. You need to submit an application for each role you'd like to apply for.

To begin your application, click Apply for job. If you already work for New South Wales Health, and are logged in with your Stafflink ID and password, many fields will be pre-populated and greyed out. To change these details you'll need to update them in Employee Self-Service. If you've previously applied for a job with New South Wales Health, use your login details to sign in. This'll speed up the application process. If you've never created a profile before and don't currently work for New South Wales Health, Click New User and create a new profile.

On the application page, the progress bar indicates the pages you'll be required to complete. The first page prompts you to complete some personal details including qualifications and registration information. Ensure you have your AHPRA info ready as you'll need to enter it here. Complete all fields that are relevant to you. Remembering to enter accurate and up-to-date information to ensure your application progresses without delay.

Next, complete the Eligibility Questions section. To comply with the COVID-19 Vaccination of Health Care Workers Order 2021 all health staff and persons working in health settings must have received the appropriate number of doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Next, complete your Application Responses. You'll be timed out after 60 minutes if you haven't selected Save and Continue or Save as Draft. Click Save as Draft regularly to ensure your responses are saved as you go. Or prepare your responses in a Word document, then copy and paste them here.

File attachments is where you upload documents to support your application, including your resume. Click Choose File and then Attach to attach your files. Mark all files you want to be considered for this application as Relevant. Mark the resume you want considered for this application as both Relevant and Resume. It's important to ensure all files are attached correctly. If they aren't, your documents won't be considered and this can impact the result of your application. If you delete attachments, they'll be removed from all your current applications.

The Additional Tasks page will appear next. Ensure that pop-ups are enabled on your browser, and then click on the link. Most applications indicate that there are no tasks to complete however if you're applying for a role that requires location and/or training network preferences follow the instructions to order your preferences. You may be asked to do this multiple times if you submit other applications. If you've entered preferences, you'll receive an additional tasks email once you complete your application that allows you to reorder your preferences until the close date.

Complete the Application Acknowledgement and then Review and Submit Your Application. You'll receive a confirmation email that your application has been submitted. You can edit your submission as many times as you like until applications close. If your application is progressed, you'll receive an invitation to interview. If you're not an Australian citizen and you progress to an interview, you'll need to provide evidence that you're eligible to work in Australia. For the question, 'I have been living overseas for at least 6 months at the time of submitting this application', select 'Yes'. If you select 'Other' for the country where you attended secondary school, you need to: select the 'English Test Type', provide your English test score, and select the 'English Test Complete Date'.
