The Mid North Coast has something for everyone: Uncrowded sun-drenched beaches, whales and dolphins, ancient rainforests, magnificent mountain ranges, and preserved Aboriginal sites. There is an abundance of beautiful beachside towns, from Port Macquarie to Coffs Harbour, the popular holiday area is halfway between Sydney and Brisbane and is perfect for lovers of the outdoors: surfing, boating, sailing, bushwalking, hiking, mountain biking, or just chill out with a picnic in the park or an afternoon on the beach with the kids.
One of Australia’s original Big Things, the Big Banana at Coffs Harbour pays tribute to the plantations that started in the 1890s. Dorrigo National Park, just an hour from Coffs Harbour, is a world heritage area and includes diverse rainforests and stunning waterfalls. And of course, the world’s first Koala Hospital was established in 1973 at Port Macquarie.
