It is important that NSW Health knows about the hours you are working and that you are paid for all of the hours you work in a timely manner.  You have an obligation to submit claims for all additional hours you work above your ordinary hours. By submitting claims for all of the hours you work you are contributing to the accurate recording of JMO hours, which supports workforce management and ensures appropriate management of hospital funding and resources. Where you have been required to work unrostered overtime, you are required to make a claim so that you are paid for all of the work that you have performed. Failure to claim unrostered overtime worked, or delay in doing so, has a financial impact on the public health system as a whole and impacts NSW Health's ability to manage workload of its junior medical officers.

Refer to the Unrostered Overtime fact sheet for some frequently asked questions on unrostered overtime and claims you can make in the NSW Health Unrostered Overtime and Callback Claims system (UROC).

Local Health District staff will support you to comply with your obligation to claim all unrostered overtime and provide you with support in making claims in UROC. If you have any further queries about how to make claims you should contact your JMO unit or equivalent for further guidance.

Unrostered Overtime and Callback Claims (UROC) Guides

Where you have been required to work unrostered overtime, you are required to make a claim so that you are paid for all of the work that you have performed.

The Unrostered Overtime and Callback Claims (UROC) system provide an online facility for Junior Medical Officers to claim unrostered overtime, callbacks and missed meal breaks all within the same application. To make a claim for unrostered overtime (and claim for a meal allowance where eligible within the same claim), a callback (recalled for duty) or missed meal break, simply go to UROC either in StaffLink or by downloading the mobile app (Apple Store and Google Play search for UROC NSW Health). All claims are reviewed by your JMO unit or equivalent for processing into payroll. On occasions if you have missed important details in your claim, your JMO unit may return your claim to you to update before it is processed.

The following guides provide more information on UROC and how you can create an unrostered overtime, callback or missed meal break claim and run a report to view all of your claims.

JMO Declaration

It is a term of your employment that you verify the hours you have worked. JMOs are required to complete a declaration for each pay period confirming that they have claimed all additional hours worked over and above rostered hours as soon as possible. Refer to the following factsheet and quick reference guide for more information on completing the UROC JMO declaration.
