March 2023 edition : NSW Telestroke Service

The NSW Telestroke Service has treated more than 3,000 stroke patients across the state. The service is improving health outcomes for people irrespective of geographical location with regional patients receiving treatment as fast as they would in metropolitan areas.

Colin Hutchinson lives in Sandy Creek, near Murrurundi in the Upper Hunter region of New South Wales. When he came in to see his wife one day after mowing on his farm he said "I just don't feel right." As his wife Cheryl recalls, after she called 000: “Thanks to Telestroke, I got my husband back. I can say that with all honesty.”

To see more examples of how Telestroke is making a difference to people across NSW visit the NSW Telestroke Service.

Implementation of the service is a collaboration between the Prince of Wales Hospital, eHealth NSW, the Agency for Clinical Innovation and the Ministry of Health.
