As part of a record investment into suicide prevention, the Towards Zero Suicides initiatives seek to provide leading best practice interventions, build on local community resilience and change culture and practice across government systems to reduce the rate of suicide in NSW.

The Towards Zero Suicides initiatives support the goals and priorities of the Strategic Framework for Suicide Prevention in NSW 2018-23. Towards Zero Suicides has been named a Premier’s Priority by the NSW Premier, with a goal of reducing the suicide rate by 20 per cent by 2023.

The Towards Zero Suicides initiatives are being implemented in every local health district. Implementation will be undertaken in a phased approach to ensure services and activities are co-designed in collaboration with people with lived experience of suicide, carers and families, researchers, suicide prevention community collaboratives, community managed organisations, and other government agencies.
