NSW Health is the public health regulator of the major water utilities (Hunter Water Corporation, Sydney Water Corporation and WaterNSW). NSW Health worked with the utilities to support the ongoing implementation of risk-based frameworks from the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines and the Australian Guidelines for Water Recycling, including:

  • participation in a review of critical control points (with Hunter Water Corporation)
  • reviewing changes to water quality monitoring and reporting (with Sydney Water Corporation)
  • contributing to a comprehensive ‘catchment to customer’ risk assessment (with WaterNSW and Sydney Water)
  • assisting Hunter Water in developing its strategy to manage PFAS risk.
